about

Óró, 'Sé do Bheatha 'Bhaile is Máirtín's mother's party piece at any singsong. In June 2005 while filming, "The Wind that Shakes the Barley," on the Top of Coom road between the Cork Kerry border, Máirtín was asked by Director Ken Loach to sing a marching song as the Flying Column were on their way to an ambush. This became the signature tune to the Palme d'Or award winning film. The words were written by Pádraig Mac Piarais in 1914, calling all the Irish heroes around the world to come home and fight for Ireland's freedom.
